The Men’s BBQ & Bible Study is open to any man 21 years of age or older that wants to enjoy great barbecued meat in a potluck setting with Christian male fellowship and a Bible Study. The barbecued meats and beverages are provided, all you need to bring is a potluck item of your choice and your Bible. Please note that beginning in November, due to Advent Services on Wednesdays, the Men’s BBQ and Bible Study moves to Thursdays. The following is the preview of the November, December, and January gatherings.

The November 9th (Thursday) Men’s BBQ & Bible Study will be at 6pm. (NOTE the time change and day change for this month.) Once a year, the Men’s BBQ & Bible Study eats at a local barbecue joint and then volunteers within the community for the evening. We will be eating at 6pm at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit at the northwest corner of East Bridge Street (Highway 7) and North 42nd Avenue. So, bring $8-10 for the Dickey’s BBQ meal – no potluck for this month. Then at 6:45pm we will travel to Almost Home in Downtown Brighton to help prepare their annual Almost Home Thanksgiving Holiday Meal Boxes for those needing holiday food. We invite any man that wants to help with this important community project to join us on this evening between 6pm-9pm. Your help will help us make the holiday time happy for others!

The December 14th (Thursday) Men’s BBQ & Bible Study is a 6:30pm DESSERTFEST at the Heidt Home. Men, eat your supper and then come to this second annual delicious event. This is desserts only for December – consider it a dessert potluck. And yes, bring your family, wife, date, or anyone else (that is human) to this event along with a dessert and your Bible. If this year’s desserts are like last year’s desserts then we will have a “yummy” time filling our bellies. The Heidt closet of games will be open for selection and playing, as well as coffee, tea, and another holiday beverage or two to enhance great conversation if you do not feel like playing games. (Ho, ho, ho and a bunch of fun.) Come and enjoy the fun, food, fellowship, and faithful study that involves the Bible and will end by 9pm. This month’s short Bible Study will be about the Christmas Poinsettia and how it relates to the birth of Christ. Strengthen your Christmas season with this Thursday Dessertfest!

The January 2018 Men’s BBQ & Bible Study is January 11th (second Thursday of the month) from 6:30pm – 9pm at the Heidt home. The Bible Study is on the book of James in the New Testament. January is a time of self-evaluation and setting goals for the year. This is a perfect time to discuss the New Testament book of James – James is a study of practical advice on living the Christian life. Paul called James the “pillar” of the church. January’s Bible Study will begin with a short 15-minute review of the history of James and the first 18 versus of Chapter 1 that discusses “Facing Trials and Temptations”. Then the Bible Study will move into James 1:19 – 5:20. These chapters and verses address “listening and then doing”, “the folly of favoritism”, “how faith works”, “tongue taming”, “planting seeds of peace”, “how to submit to God”, “the danger of pride”, “patience, suffering, and words to the rich”, and ending with learning the “faith prayer”. The January BBQ will be seasoned with BBQ meat in a soup normally eaten during the winter. So, men, bring your January potluck item and your Bible and enjoy this winter Men’s BBQ & Bible Study indoors at the Heidt home.

For more information about the Men’s BBQ & Bible Study and directions to the Heidt home please call Mark at: 303-655-0167. (Or stop him at church to get the directions.) It does not matter if you are single or married, just come and join us in the fun at the Heidt home. The BBQ & Bible Study includes time to get to know other men, talk sports and hobbies, trivia, jokes, and more. We have served up delicious (and sometimes unique) barbecue themed meals. We, the present men of the Men’s BBQ & Bible Study, would like you to be part of this exciting worship and eating group where faith is grown, friendships are developed, and the food is excellent! Now consider yourself invited to join us – so will you?
