Zion is moving to online worship!  We will do this until it is safe for us to gather for worship.  This means that all our services are temporarily suspended.  Please stay tuned to hear how to access worship online!

We will continue to make CDs of weekend worship and mail these to all who have requested.

As our District President, Pastor Rodger Schlechte, reminds us:  This is not a matter of Acts 5:29: “We must obey God rather than men.” Rather, it is a matter of Romans 13:1-2: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”

Out of love for our neighbor we are called to protect them in all their bodily needs.  We can do this through this temporary adjustment.  Just as we can use this time to check on each other by phone calls, texts, and emails.  Here’s a link where you can sign up to be a part of Zion’s Community Connections:

Christ is with us!  If you know someone who cannot access email, please phone them and read this to them.  Also please remember that your offerings are still needed to support Zion’s work and may be mailed to the church.

Thank you for your faithfulness!

Zion’s Schedule Changes and Policies for Our Safety https://brightonzlc.org/zions-schedule-changes-and-policies-for-our-safety Fri, 13 Mar 2020 23:33:54 +0000 https://brightonzlc.org/?p=4004 Read more »]]> Friends in Christ,

We are in uncharted territory, but God is with us!

This is a time when we must obey those whom God has placed in authority over us.  This includes our Governor who via a conference call this afternoon spoke directly to me and other pastors and faith-group leaders in Colorado.  This also includes our LCMS Rocky Mountain District who has sent us guidelines that will enable all of us, as Christ’s family, to do our part to save lives and stop the spread of COVID-19.

– Worship will continue as scheduled, including the Wednesday, 7 p.m. Lenten worship, but not the 10 a.m. service on Wednesdays while Zion School is not in session.

–  All other activities (Soup Suppers, fellowship time, SonLight KidMin, Bible classes, Inquirers’ class, mid-week Confirmation instruction, small groups) are suspended until such a time as we may safely resume.

–  Vulnerable worshipers should stay home.  Period.  The most vulnerable folks are those age 70 and over, plus those who have respiratory or immunocompromised issues.  This is not a time to put God to the test.  While other countries’ experience shows that those age 30 and under are at low risk, anyone can spread the virus.

– Those who come for worship will be instructed to sit about 6 feet apart, unless, of course, you are from the same household.  Zion has the pew space to facilitate this.

– Offering plates will be available before and after worship in a stationary position.

– Immediately, CDs of the weekend service will be available for all who ask (303-659-2339).  We are looking into a live-stream on Zion’s Facebook page and will get the word out if that happens.

– If you are in the most vulnerable category and need groceries, please let us know.  We would rather have a volunteer deliver your groceries to your door than see you at risk in a local grocery store.

– Governor Polis expects these policies to be in place for at least 30 days.  He tells us to expect the demand at local food banks to increase as the economy is affected.

– Out of caution, Pastor Schilling and Pastor Roettjer have suspended all in-person visits.  We will make phone calls and emergency in-person visits as deemed critical.

It is our prayer, and certainly the prayer of the whole Church, that together we confess our faith at all times, but especially during these unforeseen, challenging circumstances.  May the Spirit lead us in exercising due prudence.  May those who step forward to serve do so knowing that the Lord is with us.

If you know someone who may not receive this email please phone them and read this to them. Thank you for your help.
